In the nearly 9 years I have been an MP since 2010, and also the 3.5 years prior to that when I was the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate between 2006 and 2010, I have been to every street and corner of my Northampton North constituency many times knocking on doors on every street in Northampton North to ask residents if there is anything that I can help with or if there were any issues that residents would like to raise with me. As an elected politician I represent all the residents of Northampton North and it is my firm belief that it is important for me to regularly talk to my constituents so that I remain in touch with views and what matters most to people.
As well as canvassing for people’s views on the doorsteps, my hard-working volunteers and I have been knocking on doors asking my constituents to fill out a short survey, asking residents what matters to them most. I do often send out surveys – including one which is being sent out this week - and by filling them out residents are helping me to help my constituents.
It is well over 3 years away from the next scheduled General Election, and whilst it is a regular criticism that people only hear from their MPs during Elections, in my case I have always regularly knocked on doors and talked to the residents of the town in which I was born, brought up and have lived my whole life.
Please do feel free to write or email me if you have any issues you feel I can be of assistance with or indeed, if you have views on current political events and I will happily respond.
