On Wednesday, 13th June I joined Year 6 pupils from Headlands Primary School in Northampton who had come to London at my invitation for a tour of the Houses of Parliament. The pupils, accompanied by the Head Teacher and other staff, had a guided tour around the Houses of Parliament and learned a lot about the history of the historic Palace. After their tours, I met and spoke to the pupils in Westminster Hall about the work I do as their MP.
I often arrange free tours of the Houses of Parliament for my constituents and schools in my constituency and I always enjoy taking the opportunity to talk the pupils about my role, Parliament and politics in general. I am keen for younger people to become more engaged in politics and to learn more about how their democracy works. Tours of the Houses of Parliament include Westminster Hall, the House of Commons Chamber, House of Lords Chamber and the magnificent Central Lobby. Seeing the Houses of Parliament in person is something that I would recommend to anyone, whether they are interested in politics or not- and if you are a constituent and would like to visit please write to me and I will be happy to help arrange it!
