I was pleased to be invited again to support the Waitrose in Kingsthorpe “Big Sell” event as part of Waitrose’s grow and sell scheme.
The grow and sell scheme was launched by Waitrose in order to encourage primary school children across the UK to grow their own produce and then sell it. The school children collected their seeds from Waitrose, grew it themselves with the help of their teachers and then sold it on the Waitrose forecourt at the “Big Sell” event. I judged the event where five Northampton primary schools took part and it was very popular and well supported.
I was happy to support this scheme which I have done for several years, and which I believe has a positive impact on school children in their early years of development, as they learn about growing produce and then the value and sale of what they have grown.
