In response to ever-increasing traffic pressure in Kingsthorpe Village, particularly by those using the village as a short-cut to avoid the main roads, I undertook a major survey of local residents asking whether they would be in favour of a formal consultation which offers the alternative of blocking the High Street between the junctions at Kingswell Road and Knight’s Lane. This would have the effect of stopping people using the village as a ‘cut-through’ for cars.
The consensus was that a formal consultation would be a good idea and would allow residents to formally propose their views, whether in support or opposition of the proposal.
I am pleased to say that Northamptonshire County Council has now agreed to my proposal to look at this issue on behalf of local residents and will be conducting a formal consultation on the issue over the coming months. We are in the planning stages but more information will be forthcoming soon.
