I get many emails and letters from some of my 65,000 constituents on matters concerning highways, such as potholes.
Potholes have been a major issue for many Northampton North residents. To that end, many readers will recall that I have successfully lobbied the Government to increase funding for pothole repairs – and this has resulted in an extra £5 million being allocated to our area to deal with potholes, on top of the sum our area would normally receive.
Whilst the local authority does have more money to fill-in potholes, there are still specific potholes which do need to be reported to Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) for them to be inspected and subsequently repaired.
You can report issues such as potholes and many other issues to NCC using their very handy website:
After you have clicked on this link it will give you a list of issues which are NOT dealt with by the Street Doctor, such as fly-tipping, and it will tell you where to go to report those issues instead.
To report an issue simply:
1) Click on the above link, then click on the “report or track a problem” green button
2) If your issue is not about street lighting then click on the “report other problem” button which will bring you to a screen where you can chose the issue you want to report from a drop-down menu. If you do want to report a street lighting issue then click on the “report street lighting” button.
3) Once you have chosen your problem from the drop-down menu you can then inform NCC of the location of this problem either by clicking on the area using a map or by manually telling them the address of the problem.
4) After this you then provide your own details so that the Council can contact you to discuss the matter further if need be.
