In the last fortnight I very much enjoyed visiting two primary schools in Northampton – Eastfields Academy and The Arbours Primary.
I have kept in touch with schools throughout my time as an MP, and visited almost all of them more than once, as I consider it is absolutely vital that we give children the best possible start in life, and providing good schools and educational opportunities is one of the most important things I can support for Northampton. It is clearly one of the most important issues for parents and families in the constituency
I am pleased to say that Ofsted (the educational standards authority) rated 29% more schools as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ in Northampton North compared to before I was elected in 2010.
I enjoy meeting teachers, pupils and parents during my school visits, and always receive the most interesting and tough questions from the youngest primary pupils! I also visited Bosworth College the same evening, for an engaging Q&A with older students. I have recently written again to all the Head Teachers of the secondary schools in Northampton North and have three more secondary school visits lined up before Christmas.
