I met recently with members of the Northamptonshire Health and Wellbeing Board, to discuss the Northamptonshire Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
The Health and Wellbeing Strategy is a project to deliver meaningful, healthier and longer lives for the people of Northamptonshire, by developing excellent standards in health and social care in the county.
Northamptonshire County Council has been working on this project for several years, and I was keen to hear more about their progress from experts Professor Akeem Ali and Professor Nick Petford, as well as Councillor Robin Brown.
Delivering quality health and social care is a real challenge, especially as the population of Britain grows older. It is good to see Northamptonshire leading the way in devising innovative solutions for modern healthcare – and I am sure that this strategy will help improve outcomes for people in the local area.
One of the key tasks the Health and Wellbeing Board undertakes is making sure that local people have a major input into the organisation of Healthcare, Social Care and Policing. I always think it is important that local people are involved in the decisions that affect them, and I am pleased to support the work of the Board in this area.
