The new Principal of Stimpson Avenue Primary School invited me to visit last week, at the occasion of their appointing their first Head Boy and Head Girl.
I enjoyed being part of the school assembly and meeting the staff and pupils and I also had the chance to speak to the ten-year-olds about democracy.
I was also able to take questions from students about my job as an MP. I was very impressed with the questions I was asked, which ranged from whether I had ever met The Queen to, believe it or not, a question about Quantitative Easing!
It is great to hear young people take an interest in politics and this is something I think all schools should encourage.
