I am a huge supporter of the National Citizen Service (NCS), and readers may notice I regularly write about them in my newsletters. I was delighted to again give out around 80 graduation certificates to young people who have completed the course.
NCS is an increasingly popular service for 16/17 year olds, enabling these young people to make new friends, build confidence for themselves, have great fun, raise money for charity, undertake social action projects for their local community and add a useful entry to their CV’s!
Just a couple of years ago there were 44 participants in Northamptonshire, this year there were over 600. It is probable that next year there will be over 1,000 participants aged 16 and 17.
It is no exaggeration to say that taking part in the course has been life-changing for a large number of young people. A number of graduates of the two week course have said as much to me and I know of very few programmes indeed which have a 95%+ approval rating, which NCS regularly does.
I understand that almost all the schools in Northamptonshire are now involved with NCS but if you would like to read more about it you can do so here.
