I was very pleased to attend the Feeding Britain’s Future event, organised by Waitrose supermarket in Kingsthorpe. Feeding Britain’s Future is an initiative created to offer support and advice to people on how to present and manage their CVs, as well as offering advice about interview preparation and the job market.
This is a well-regarded training programme, and I was happy to see Waitrose supporting job hunters as they sought to make themselves more employable. It is often the case that an individual may be perfectly qualified for a position, but that they are let down by a CV that does not fully advertise their skill set and abilities. Feeding Britain’s Future helps people to show themselves in the most effective way.
I spoke alongside the store managers about the importance of confidence, punctuality and preparation for interviews. I was impressed by the keenness and ambition of those attending, and enjoyed a question and answer session with them.
It is important that we continue to drive employment in Northampton, and schemes such as this help to guide individuals in their efforts to find a job. With unemployment in Northampton North at just 2.6% in August, we must continue to keep this figure as low as possible, and I am happy to work with any and all organisations that aim to help with this effort.
