I was very pleased to be the Guest Speaker at the launch of the Financial Health and Wellbeing Service held by the Northampton Community Law Service at the Guildhall.
The new pilot project, which is funded by the British Gas Energy Trust Fund to the tune of £186,000, aims to provide a one-stop approach to helping those struggling to pay for fuel bills, including those with mental health problems. There is a particular focus on working with health professionals and GP surgeries.
The Service will provide advice on Debt, Welfare, Housing and Energy saving, as well as support through grants for those in particular trouble with fuel costs.
I have worked frequently with the Community Law Service over the last five years and they do a great job in providing specialist and confidential legal advice- they are the largest independent advice provider in the East Midlands. I supported them last year too when they won an award for their project about Energy Saving.
