Everyone in Northampton will of course know that our very own Northampton Town Football Club were recently crowned Champions of League 2 and I was delighted to join the celebrations with thousands of others when they had a bus parade through the town.
In honour of the club’s huge success, the squad and support staff were paraded through Northampton town on open top buses, with huge numbers of fans turning up to cheer them on and celebrate their achievements. The buses left Sixfields Stadium and made their way along Weedon Road, entering the town centre by way of Marefair and Gold Street. After circling All Saints, the buses headed to the Market Square. Speeches were made about the club’s success, and then the buses arrived at the Guildhall, where I was pleased to meet the team and staff of the club.
Whether or not you are a football fan or a sports fan at all, the club’s achievements over the past year have been extraordinary and I am always happy to see our town represented in such a successful way. I hope to attend a similar reception next year when NTFC are crowned champions of League 1!
