Last weekend I attended a Christmas service for our Emergency Services at St Alban the Martyr Church in Broadmead Avenue. I had the chance to speak with staff from Northamptonshire Police, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service.
The Chief Constable proudly introduced me to a young Constable who had been seriously injured in a violent incident in Northampton recently and I was honoured to meet him. Our emergency personnel perform heroic service every day, often unnoticed, and we owe them our gratitude.
I was pleased to hear in the Autumn Statement in the Commons last week the Chancellor of the Exchequer promise an extra £2 billion to support our NHS over the next year, and am sure that money will be put to good use in providing better service for patients.
