It is a major undertaking every year, and over the last several months I have been working hard behind the scenes to organise my 3rd annual Northampton Jobs Fair. It will be held next week at the Guildhall, on Friday, 12th September from 10.00am – 4.00pm. It is Free to attend and everyone is welcome! (Last year over 2,000 people came through the doors in six hours!)
Again this year I have invited FORTY companies, charities, training companies and organisations. This is the venue’s maximum capacity, and the event is so popular with local businesses that there is a waiting list of companies wishing to take part.
Companies and organisations attending this year include:
Barclaycard,
Nationwide,
St. Andrew’s Healthcare,
Church’s Shoes,
Waitrose,
HM Armed Forces,
Coca-Cola,
The Prince’s Trust
Royal Mail
…and many more.
I always try and get a good mix between local employers and large recognisable companies who are looking to hire people as the economy continues to improve. Alongside these businesses I have invited several charities, and also groups who specialise in training and improving skills.
There will also be free Seminars throughout the day on topics like “Improving your CV”, “Preparing for Interviews” etc.
Over the years I have been organising these Jobs Fairs I know many people have got jobs as a result of them, and I am hoping for similar success this year.
The UK now has the fastest growing economy in the G8, and we are growing faster than Germany or the USA. This compares very well with France, Italy and even the economic powerhouse Germany whose economy actually contracted last month.
Whilst we are doing better, there is still much more to do and something I can do personally and locally is to get these 40 employers in the same room as local people looking for work.
